Fireweed ***(Chamerion angustifolium)***
fiber is grown and spun in India. The singles are plied and wound onto cones here at my studio.
The fireweed is sourced from Chamerion angustifolium fibers. During this process waste fibers sometimes find their way into the spinning; you may notice bits of sparkly or even colored fibers in the yarn. So far research has not developed a 100% bast fiber, the 5% cotton is needed for spinning and strength of the fibers. The yarns dyes just like other bast fibers and colors well using both natural and synthetic dyes.
